Christmas Interior Design Tips for Retail Spaces

With Christmas fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about the ways you could decorate your retail space. Towns and cities will be flooded with eager shoppers every day in the run up to Christmas, and they will be much more likely to enter your shop if it reflects their Christmas spirit. So, with that in mind, in this article we will be offering some excellent and unique design tips for retail spaces this Christmas, so you can create eye-catching displays that will encourage sales.

Makeshift Christmas trees

In the run up to Christmas, you will find Christmas trees in the window displays of shops up and down the high street. While buying a real Christmas tree is an excellent way to make a festive statement, it’s not necessarily the best, or the cheapest, way to stand out from the crowd.

When observing window displays, many shoppers would rather see something ingenious than luxurious, so think outside of the box. This is where your makeshift Christmas tree comes in. Instead of a real one, why not use the products you have at your disposal (books, for example) to create a structure in the image of a Christmas tree. Presenting your products in this manner is a clever way to nod towards Christmas without being trite.

Seasonal signage

A particularly clever, and often forgotten, way of creating a more Christmassy retail space and attracting more shoppers is to create seasonally appropriate signage. Perhaps the best thing about signage is that you needn’t spend much money on it at all, it simply needs to be witty or warming.

Another key factor that will affect the success of your seasonal signage is its placement. That is, it must be placed somewhere easily visible. With that in mind, why not place some on the road as well as your shop window? Potential customers will be much more likely to read it if it comes into view as they walk down the road.

Reap what you sow

Arguably the most important guiding principle when it comes to designing your Christmas display is as follows: the more time and money you spend, the more customers you will attract. This is not to say you need to spend lots of money to receive any traffic to your shop, it’s simply that every shop on the high street will be decorating their windows with something seasonal, so you need to stand out from the crowd.

In fact, if you put up a display that looks half-baked in comparison to shops in the vicinity, this will prove detrimental to your cause.
